About Mari
The Journey
Born with a deep connection to my heritage, my creative path began in Brazil. I spent over 15 years immersed in the vibrant worlds of fashion and graphic design, running a fashion textile printing in Fortaleza and studying at prestigious institutions like Escola Panamericana de Arte in Sao Paulo and Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro. My life was defined by bold shapes, continuous patterns, and large-scale acrylic formats.
The Transition
Moving to Australia brought a shift in environment, space, and perspective. Finding myself with a need for a more intimate creative outlet, I discovered a profound passion for watercolour painting. Shifting from large, expansive canvases to the delicate, fluid world of watercolour on paper allowed me to look inward.
The Philosophy
For me, painting is not just an act of creation, it is a form of meditation and a vital practice for personal well-being. As an introspective person, watercolour provides a sanctuary where I can communicate silently through the language of colour, water and transparency. My primitive artistic style flows naturally guiding my hand to explore colours, memory and self-reflection.
